Azerbaijan’s Parliament Approves Statement Celebrating Victory Day

Baku:Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (Parliament) has officially adopted a statement commemorating November 8 as Victory Day, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the statement was read by MP Hikmat Babaoghlu and subsequently approved following a series of discussions within the parliamentary session. The statement emphasizes the victory achieved in 2020 under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, highlighting the unity of the Azerbaijani people, army, and state as key factors in breaching previously considered impregnable defense lines and delivering significant blows to occupying forces.

The statement also reflects on the liberation of Shusha on November 8, which is described as a pivotal moment in what is known as the Patriotic War. It asserts that Azerbaijan has restored historical justice and upheld international law through these actions. Furthermore, the statement acknowledges the strategic vision and political will of President Aliyev in the military, diplomatic, and information realms, which were instrumental in unifying national efforts toward a shared objective.

Additionally, the statement calls for the international community to respect the sovereign decisions of regional countries and to support direct dialogue. It notes that the necessary conditions for economic development and the well-being of the population are being established in the liberated areas, facilitating the return of Azerbaijani citizens to their ancestral lands.
