Baku: The State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan has announced that the population of the country has reached 10,214,441 people as of October 1, 2024, reflecting an increase of 33,671 individuals or 0.3% from previous counts.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the demographic breakdown indicates that 54.5% of the population resides in urban areas while 45.5% lives in rural regions. The gender distribution is nearly even, with men comprising 49.8% and women 50.2% of the population.
The population distribution across Azerbaijan’s regions shows that 23.0% of the populace is concentrated in Baku, the capital city. Other significant regions include Lankaran-Astara with 9.2%, Absheron-Khizi with 8.6%, and Garabagh with 7.3% of the population. The Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic accounts for 4.6% of the total population. Other regions such as Central Aran, Gazakh-Tovuz, Shaki-Zagatala, and Ganja-Dashkasan also contribute notably to the population numbers, highlighting the diverse regional distribution within t
he nation.
