Baku: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has expressed concerns regarding the effectiveness of international law, particularly the norms and principles outlined in the UN Charter. In an interview with local television channels, the President emphasized the importance of national strength over reliance on international legal frameworks.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted Azerbaijan's experience as one of the first victims of the failure of international law. He pointed out that despite four UN Security Council resolutions demanding the withdrawal of Armenian troops from Azerbaijani territories, these directives remained unimplemented for 27 years. The President stressed that had Azerbaijan not taken matters into its own hands to liberate its lands, those resolutions might have remained unenforced indefinitely.

Reflecting on the developments over the past five years since the Second Karabakh War, President Aliyev noted that the new geopolitical realities have been acknowledged globally. He asserted that the international community, leading nations, and major international organizations have come to accept these changes. The President reiterated the significance of national strength, stating, "We do not live in a world based on paper-the UN Charter. We live on the land. Therefore, we must be strong, and this is what we are striving to do. I recommend this to every country."
