Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Engages with Turkish Vice President Amid OTS Discussions

Baku: Azerbaijan's Prime Minister held a significant meeting with the Turkish Vice President, as the city hosted the Meeting of Heads of Government/Vice President of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) Member States. This high-profile gathering aimed to foster greater cooperation and discuss critical issues among the Turkic nations.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting comes at a time when the Turkic world is actively exploring the establishment of a common higher education space and an Industrial Alliance of Turkic States, as emphasized by Uzbekistan's support. In a show of unity and shared goals, a joint statement was adopted within the OTS meeting in Baku, highlighting the collaborative efforts of the member states.

The discussions also took place against a backdrop of regional economic developments, with European natural gas prices experiencing a notable rise of over 6% to reach $58, driven by tensions related to Iran. Meanwhile, Azerbaijan continues its domestic initiatives, as evidenced by the relocation of 27 more families to Kalbajar city, who received keys to their new homes.

The international significance of the event was further underscored by Azerbaijan's recent diplomatic engagements, including a meeting hosted by AZERTAC with the Saudi Arabian ambassador and the UN's adoption of a resolution initiated by Azerbaijan. Adding to the cultural richness of the period, Baku also saw the commencement of the 2026 Great Silk Way tournament, marking another milestone for the city.
