Baku: Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev recently held a meeting with Munther Ibrahim Hussein, the President of Iraq’s Federal Supreme Court, to discuss bilateral cooperation and anti-corruption efforts.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting took place on July 15, where Aliyev congratulated Hussein on his recent appointment and expressed his hopes for successful collaboration in their respective roles. Aliyev provided an overview of the reforms undertaken within Azerbaijan’s prosecutorial system, highlighting the significance of international cooperation in combating modern crimes, especially corruption.

The Prosecutor General praised the developing relations between Azerbaijan and Iraq, noting their collaboration within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). He also mentioned the upcoming 3rd meeting of the heads of anti-corruption law enforcement agencies of OIC member states, which is scheduled to be held in Baku in 2026.

Munther Ibrahim Hussein reciprocated by acknowledging the longstanding friendship between Azerbaijan and Iraq, emphasizing their shared cultural, religious, and historical ties. He stressed the necessity of strengthening cooperation between the law enforcement bodies of the two nations, particularly in the areas of crime and corruption prevention.

The discussions also covered other mutual interests, including enhancing the contractual and legal framework to boost bilateral cooperation further.
