Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Engages in Strategic Meetings in Rabat

Rabat: An Azerbaijani delegation led by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev is on a working visit to Rabat at the invitation of his Moroccan counterpart, Hicham El Bellaoui. As part of the visit, Kamran Aliyev visited Azerbaijan's Embassy in Morocco to lay flowers at the monument to National Leader Heydar Aliyev. He later met with embassy staff to discuss enhancing cooperation and ties between the two countries across multiple areas.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, at a meeting held at the Prosecutor's Office of the Kingdom of Morocco, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev described Morocco as a friendly nation that shares common values with Azerbaijan and has consistently shown solidarity on international platforms. He emphasized that in recent years, relations between the two countries have deepened thanks to the farsighted policies and efforts of President Ilham Aliyev and King Mohammed VI, and that the close ties between the leaders also promote institutional cooperation.

Hailing interinstitutional cooperation, Hicham El Bellaoui noted Morocco's awareness of recent reforms in the Azerbaijani Prosecutor's Office. He stressed that Azerbaijan's experience, particularly in digitalizing prosecutorial and criminal prosecution processes, is of special interest and that Morocco is keen to expand experience-sharing.

The meeting focused on cooperation against various forms of crime, including transnational and financial crimes, extradition, and mutual legal assistance, as well as on enhancing legal and institutional ties and organizing training exchanges and experience-sharing.

Subsequently, the Azerbaijani delegation was briefed on the activities of the Moroccan Public Prosecution Office, including its role in protecting family and child rights, safeguarding state interests, combating corruption, and operating a call center. The parties also discussed future cooperation and agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Morocco, Nazim Safarov, was also present at the meeting. The delegation's visit is ongoing, with further meetings planned with heads of other state institutions.
