Shusha: On June 30, Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations of Azerbaijan, engaged in discussions with his counterparts from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) during the First Meeting of the Heads of State Bodies Responsible for Religious Affairs in Shusha.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Ramin Mammadov met with several key figures including Kubanychbek Omuraliev, OTS Secretary General; Safi Arpagus, Head of Trkiye's Directorate of Religious Affairs; Rustam Ali, Vice Minister of Culture and Information of Kazakhstan; Talantbek Tashybekov, Chairman of Kyrgyzstan's National Agency for Religious Affairs and Interethnic Relations; and Sodiq Toshboev, Chairman of Uzbekistan's Committee on Religious Affairs. Their discussions centered on enhancing collaboration within the OTS framework, focusing on the preservation of shared spiritual values and coordinated efforts in addressing religious affairs.
The dialogue also addressed the challenges of combatting religious radicalism and extremism, stressing the importance of expertise sharing among the relevant institutions. The officials highlighted the need for a new cooperation mechanism in religious affairs, which would further strengthen the existing cooperation model, encourage regular contacts, and facilitate joint projects across the Turkic states.
The visiting officials expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the organization of the event, recognizing it as a pivotal platform for advancing institutional ties among the OTS member states.
