Azerbaijan’s Shamakhi Hosts 2nd International Barbecue Festival with Global Chefs and Cultural Exchange

Shamakhi: On June 13, the opening ceremony of the 2nd International Barbecue Festival took place in Meysari village, Shamakhi city, APA reports. This two-day culinary event, supported by the Shamakhi District Executive Authority, the Nasimi Gardens complex, and the Abgora restaurant, draws participants and spectators eager to engage in a celebration of global cuisine. Azersun Holding and Coca-Cola Azerbaijan are the main sponsors, while Azerbaijan Airlines, Premium Meat, and Baku Medical Plaza serve as official partners.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Tahir Mammadov, Head of Shamakhi District Executive Authority, addressed the opening ceremony, highlighting the participation of renowned chefs from various countries. He emphasized that their culinary traditions and dishes contribute to a special atmosphere, enhancing the festival's appeal. Mammadov noted that such events not only provide a memorable experience for guests but also underline Shamakhi's renowned hospitality.

Renowned Georgian Chef Guram Bagdoshvili highlighted the importance of preserving culinary traditions and expressed his joy at visiting Azerbaijan and Shamakhi for the first time. The chef described his participation as a deeply special moment.

The festival features chefs from countries including Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Denmark, France, Georgia, India, Italy, South Korea, Malaysia, Uzbekistan, Russia, Trkiye, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Japan. Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Katsuya Watanabe shared his enthusiasm for the event, noting the unique highlights at each stand he visited.

Ukrainian and Turkmen chefs praised the festival's organization and emphasized its role in fostering cultural ties and promoting national cuisines. The event included barbecue showcases, culinary shows, and programs with international chefs.

A key highlight was the 'Barbecue VS Mangal' showdown, where barbecue masters competed against Azerbaijan's kebab chefs, showcasing special recipes and techniques. This culinary battle offered guests an unforgettable taste experience.

The festival aims to showcase Azerbaijan's hospitality, cuisine, and cultural values, while promoting culinary exchange. Guests enjoy live music, entertainment, and international cuisine.
