Shamakhi: Shamakhi, known for hosting notable events and festivals, is set to hold the International Barbecue Festival for the first time, APA reports. The festival will take place on October 4-5 in the Meysari village of Shamakhi, marking a significant event in Azerbaijan’s culinary calendar.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the festival is organized with the support of the Shamakhi District Executive Power, Nasimi Parks Complex, ‘Abqora’ restaurant, and international culinary judge Sahib-David Israfilov, also known as Don David. The event will feature prominent figures in the culinary world, including Willem Vink, president of the World Barbecue Association (WBQA); Christopher Sandford, chief judge of WBQA; and Thomas Gugler, the former president of the World Association of Chefs Societies and personal chef to the King of Saudi Arabia. Renowned chefs and culinary judges from various countries, as well as Michelin award-winning masters, will also participate.
The festival aims to enhance cultural exchange and promote Azerbaijan’s hospitality, cuisine, and cultural values on a global scale. It will include designated zones where professional chefs from Azerbaijan and other countries will demonstrate different flavors, cooking techniques, and culinary skills.
A notable feature of the event is a competition among journalists and bloggers, where teams will be judged on taste, cooking level, and presentation style. The top teams will compete for certificates, medals, and a main cup awarded by the festival partners.
