Baku: The Milli Majlis has proposed adopting a special law on “Martyrs’ Alleys”, APA reports. Zahid Oruj, chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis, made the proposal during today’s parliamentary session.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the committee chairman highlighted the significance of Martyrs’ Alleys to the Azerbaijani people, emphasizing that they are seen not merely as cemeteries or mass burial sites, but as profound symbols of heroism and passports of national identity. Oruj proposed that establishing the legal status of these avenues, along with sites where National Heroes are buried, monuments and memorial complexes, and other locations designated as ‘national memory spaces’, would contribute to immortalizing Azerbaijan’s Victory in the Patriotic War.

The proposed law aims to cover various aspects including the protection of martyrs’ memory, public conduct rules, architectural and landscaping requirements, visiting culture and protocols, electronic guidance, and security measures.
