Baku: As of July 1, Azerbaijan's state-guaranteed debt, encompassing both domestic and external obligations, amounted to AZN 7,232.3 million. This figure represents 5.5% of the nation's projected gross domestic product (GDP) of AZN 130,873.5 million for 2026.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, citing the Ministry of Finance's Statistical Bulletin on Public Debt and State-Guaranteed Debt for the First Half of 2026, the external state-guaranteed loans constituted the majority of the debt. Specifically, AZN 4,928.0 million ($2,898.8 million), or 68.1%, was attributed to external loans, while the remaining AZN 2,304.3 million, or 31.9%, was comprised of domestic loans.
The bulletin highlighted a notable reduction in external state-guaranteed debt, primarily due to the repayment of $2.0 billion in foreign currency-denominated bonds by the Southern Gas Corridor Closed Joint-Stock Company, which were issued under a state guarantee.
