Baku: Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova, Head of the Presidential Administration Samir Nuriyev, along with other state and government officials, visited the Khojaly genocide memorial to commemorate the 34th anniversary of the tragedy. The officials placed flowers at the memorial, honoring the victims of the Khojaly massacre.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, on the night of February 25-26, 1992, Armenian armed forces attacked the city of Khojaly with the aid of the 366th motorized rifle regiment of the former USSR. This assault resulted in the brutal massacre of the civilian population. A total of 613 residents, including 63 children and 106 women, were killed, and 1,275 individuals were taken prisoner and subjected to torture. The fate of 150 people remains unknown. This act of genocide led to the complete destruction of eight families, with 25 children losing both parents and 130 children losing one parent.
