Azerbaijan’s Strategic Relations with the US and Neighbors Highlighted

Baku:Azerbaijan's Assistant to the President and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department, Hikmet Hajiyev, addressed the CAMCA 2026 Regional Forum, emphasizing the stability and development of Azerbaijan's relations with neighboring countries, founded on good neighborliness.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, Hajiyev highlighted the strategic enhancement of Azerbaijan's relations with the United States, citing the 2025 summit in Washington as a pivotal moment for advancing these relations. He expressed expectations for continued strategic focus from the US on the region.

Hajiyev also underscored Azerbaijan's positive relations with Russia, which he described as stable and normal, and with Israel. He reiterated Azerbaijan's support for the establishment of a Palestinian state, advocating for a two-state solution with East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.

In relation to Iran, Hajiyev stated that Azerbaijan adheres to principles of good neighborliness and non-interference, rejecting any use of its territory for activities against neighboring states. He acknowledged the negative impact of sanctions on Iran, affecting Azerbaijan and other neighboring economies.

He further noted the comprehensive strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and China, emphasizing ongoing efforts for its practical implementation. Overall, Hajiyev affirmed that Azerbaijan's foreign relations are grounded in transparency, mutual respect, and sovereignty.
