Azerbaijan’s Victory Day Celebrated with Cultural Event in Berlin

Berlin:The Embassy of Azerbaijan in Germany celebrated the sixth anniversary of Azerbaijan's Victory in the Patriotic War with an event titled 'Peace and Coexistence' at the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre in Berlin.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, nearly 350 guests, including German officials, foreign diplomats, military attachés, journalists, academics, cultural figures, and members of Azerbaijani, Turkish, and other communities attended the event. The ceremony commenced with a minute of silence in memory of the martyrs and included a film screening dedicated to Victory Day observed on November 8.

Elgun Niftali, the Director of the Azerbaijan Cultural Centre in Berlin, addressed the gathering, emphasizing the significance of Victory Day for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and national and cultural identity. He underscored the importance of cultural events and music in promoting peace and coexistence.

Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Germany, Nasimi Aghayev, described Victory Day as a symbol of national unity, heroism, and restored territorial integrity. He paid tribute to the martyrs, attributing the Victory to the bravery of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, national unity, and the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev. The ambassador highlighted ongoing reconstruction efforts in Garabagh and East Zangezur and the return of former internally displaced persons to their homes.

In his address, the ambassador also outlined the consequences of the prolonged occupation of Azerbaijani territories, including the displacement of hundreds of thousands of Azerbaijanis and the destruction of towns and villages. He stressed the need to investigate these crimes and hold those responsible accountable, highlighting the disparity between law and justice in international relations.

The event concluded with an ethno-jazz performance by the 'Gaytaghi' ensemble and a reception featuring Azerbaijani cuisine.
