Azercell Expands Digital ID Acceptance Across All Service Centers

BAKU – Azercell Telecom has announced that starting September 16, 2024, all of its sales and service centers will accept digital ID cards, enabling customers to perform transactions using the QR code or the unique 8-digit code provided in the ‘myGov’ app. This expansion includes both Azercell Exclusive offices and authorized dealer stores across the country.

According to Trend News Agency, this initiative was launched in collaboration with the Innovation and Digital Development Agency (IRIA) and follows a decree by President Ilham Aliyev on July 16, 2024, aiming to enhance digital services nationwide. The move towards digital IDs began earlier in the month, with Azercell initially accepting these IDs at their Exclusive offices since September 2, 2024.

The adoption of digital IDs is part of a broader effort by Azercell to improve customer experience by offering more flexible and efficient service options while ensuring the highest levels of data confidentiality. This transition supports the government’s push towards digitalization and streamlined public services, reflecting an increasing trend of integrating digital solutions across various sectors in Azerbaijan.
