Bishkek: A meeting was held between Zakir Ibrahimov, Chairman of the Executive Board of AzerGold CJSC, and Kubat Abdraimov, Chairman of the Board of Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC, as part of the business visit of the AzerGold delegation, led by Zakir Ibrahimov, to the Kyrgyz Republic, AzerGold told APA-Economics.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting, held in Bishkek, focused on matters arising from the Memorandum of Cooperation and Interaction between AzerGold CJSC and Kyrgyzaltyn OJSC. This memorandum was signed on 31 July 2026 in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, during the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Council between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, with the Heads of State of the two countries in attendance. The discussions aimed at exploring opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in the mining sector and pursuing potential joint projects.
Zakir Ibrahimov emphasized that the strong friendship and brotherly ties between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan, bolstered under the leadership of the two nations' leaders, provide a conducive environment for expanding economic relations, including mining sector collaborations.
During the meeting, AzerGold shared its experience in geological exploration, mineral resource assessment, mining, and processing. Information was also provided about the ongoing geological exploration activities in Azerbaijan's liberated Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions. The successful application of advanced airborne electromagnetic and other non-invasive exploration methods was highlighted.
Expanding international operations is one of AzerGold's strategic priorities. The company is actively exploring opportunities for joint mining and geological exploration projects across Central Asia. Zakir Ibrahimov expressed the company's readiness to collaborate in the exploration and development of gold and other mineral deposits and in the application of advanced geological research methods.
Kubat Abdraimov offered an overview of the reforms in Kyrgyzstan's mining industry over recent years, the company's current project portfolio, and the industry's development prospects. He highlighted efforts to enhance the structure of Kyrgyzaltyn, expand its subsidiaries' operational capabilities, and implement new projects.
Kubat Abdraimov stated that the mining industry in Kyrgyzstan has become a leading sector of the national economy in the past five years. Large-scale reforms have been undertaken since 2020 to attract investment and strengthen international cooperation. He also welcomed AzerGold's proposal for cooperation, noting that it had been positively received by Kyrgyzaltyn. The discussions are anticipated to open new opportunities for collaboration, with promising existing projects being jointly considered.
The meeting included a detailed exchange of views on establishing joint ventures for prospective deposits, investment models, and assessing geological exploration results per international standards. Financing opportunities for new projects were also discussed.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to continue discussions on mutual interests and to further expand cooperation by implementing practical projects.
