‘AzerGold’ CJSC and RIIB Collaborate for Environmental Action in Dashkesen

Dashkesen: An ecological event commemorating World Environment Day on June 5 took place in Dashkesen under the theme 'Caring for nature is our mission!', organized by 'AzerGold' CJSC and the Regional Development Public Union (RIIB), 'AzerGold' CJSC informed APA-Economics. The event was marked by significant participation from employees of 'AzerGold' CJSC and volunteers from RIIB, focusing on promoting environmental conservation and effective waste management practices.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the campaign included an intensive cleanup drive along approximately 2 hectares of the Qoshgarchay riverbanks. Participants efficiently removed and sorted waste materials such as plastic, polyethylene, metal, glass, paper, cardboard, and other household waste, subsequently sending them for recycling.

'AzerGold' CJSC, a state-owned enterprise engaged in the mining industry, consistently aligns its production processes with both local and international environmental standards. The company frequently spearheads environmentally-targeted projects across various regions, including initiatives like tree planting, greening, and cleanup campaigns, which are organized annually to reinforce its commitment to sustainability.

World Environment Day, established by the UN General Assembly in 1972, is celebrated globally to promote environmental awareness. The UN Environment Programme (UNEP) has announced 'Climate Change' as the theme for 2026. This year's campaign, hosted by Azerbaijan, aims to enhance awareness of climate change's effects on the environment and human life, bolster climate action, and encourage sustainable development efforts.
