Baku: The 'Babek' tanker, under the operation of the Marine Transportation Fleet of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company (ASCO), an AZCON Holding entity, has returned to service following a comprehensive overhaul.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the overhaul included significant work on the tanker's main and auxiliary engines, aligning and reinstalling the propeller shaft, and renewing the electrical equipment. Further, extensive piping installation was performed on deck and in the engine room.

The overhaul also involved cleaning and repainting the vessel's underwater and above-water hull sections, deck, and engine room. The crew's living quarters and service areas were refurbished to align with modern standards.

The renovation took place at the Zigh Ship Repair and Construction Yard, where the tanker successfully completed sea trials before returning to service. The 'Babek' tanker is equipped with a cargo-carrying capacity of 13,000 tonnes, measuring 150 metres in length and 17 metres in width.
