Icherisheher:Bakcell, in collaboration with the Icherisheher State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration, has initiated a project to digitally present Azerbaijan's historical and cultural heritage.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the project will feature a new-generation audio-visual guide incorporating augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies at the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and the Maiden Tower. This guide will offer visitors information about the monuments in multiple languages and allow digital exploration of historical sites through AR. The integration of AI aims to enhance interactivity for visitors.

Gunnar Pahnke, CEO of Bakcell, emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage in a modern format, highlighting the role of innovative technologies in enriching visitor experiences and promoting cultural awareness. Rufat Mahmud, Chairman of the Reserve Administration, noted that these innovations support the transition to a Smart Heritage concept, aiming to create unique experiences and contribute to Icherisheher's development as a global tourism destination.

The partnership includes plans for developing interactive digital maps, audio-visual guide solutions, and 3D scanning and modeling of historical monuments to create digital twins. These initiatives are part of Bakcell's contribution to the Reserve's digital transformation and advancing a smart tourism ecosystem.
