Baku and Kuala Lumpur Discuss Prospects for Cooperation

Kuala lumpur: As part of her working visit to Malaysia, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Maimunah Mohd Sharif, who is also the former Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT). During the meeting, both parties acknowledged the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Malaysia.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the importance of the events and meetings she has held during her visit, emphasizing that such contacts are crucial for further fostering ties between the countries and their parliaments. The Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Maimunah Mohd Sharif, recalled her past visits to Azerbaijan and meetings with President Ilham Aliyev. She praised the progress achieved by Azerbaijan and its capital, Baku, and noted her involvement in national urban forums in Aghdam and Zangilan as part of her former role with UN-HABITAT.

Maimunah Mohd Sharif commended the infrastructure projects completed in the districts of Aghdam, Zangilan, and Fuzuli within a short timeframe. The discussion between the parties also covered the prospects for cooperation between the cities of Baku and Kuala Lumpur, along with other issues of mutual interest.
