Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s 140th Anniversary Celebrated with Concert in Kryvyy Rih

Kryvyy rih: The 140th anniversary of Uzeyir Hajibeyli, the founder of Azerbaijani national music and the creator of the first opera in the East, was marked with a concert program in Kryvyy Rih, Dnipropetrovsk oblast of Ukraine. The event attracted the leadership of the mayor's Department of Culture, MPs, diaspora activists, and representatives from both the public and the media.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the concert was organized by the Rada of Azerbaijanis of Ukraine in Kryvyy Rih. Attendees had the opportunity to view an exhibition of Azerbaijani paintings prior to the musical performances. The event commenced with the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Ukraine, followed by speeches from several notable figures.

Kamaladdin Aghayev, head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Kryvyy Rih, opened the event by underscoring the significance of commemorating Hajibeyli's 140th anniversary in Kryvyy Rih, a city notably impacted by air strikes. He highlighted the importance of promoting Azerbaijan's national music in such challenging times.

Further remarks were made by Irina Vasilyevna, head of the Cultural Department of Kryvyy Rih City Hall, and Hafiz Aslanov, chairman of the Muslim Magomayev International Foundation. They both emphasized Uzeyir Hajibeyli's pivotal role in shaping the national musical identity of Azerbaijan.
