Baku Celebrates 151st Anniversary of Azerbaijani National Press

Baku: An event celebrating the 151st anniversary of Azerbaijan's national press was held in Baku, organized by the Azerbaijan Media Development Agency. In attendance were notable figures from the media landscape who emphasized the significant impact of the press on the nation's socio-political and cultural development.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Daghbeyi Ismayilov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Media Development Agency, spoke on the pivotal role that the Azerbaijani national press has played over its 151-year history. Ismayilov acknowledged the ongoing support for the national press by both National Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev, noting that reforms are actively being implemented to ensure freedom of speech and press freedom in Azerbaijan.

Other esteemed speakers at the event included MP Vugar Rahimzada, Saadat Mammadova, Deputy Chairperson of the Azerbaijan Press Council, and Rafig Hashimov, Deputy Chairman of the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC. Each highlighted different aspects of the press's journey and its contributions to the country.

The event also featured a video presentation that showcased the development of the Azerbaijani national press over the years, followed by an artistic program that marked the occasion.
