Baku: The Baku Declaration has been adopted at the 7th Meeting of Muslim religious leaders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), APA reports. The declaration was read out by the First Deputy Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims' Office, Salman Musayev. The Council of Heads of Muslim Religious Administrations of the OTS aims to prevent trends of terrorism, extremism, separatism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, Turkophobia, takfirism, inter-sectarian discrimination, and calls for hatred.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Council seeks to use Turkic-Islamic spirituality and culture to strengthen global peace and prosperity, promote values worldwide, and educate young people. The Council supports organizing scientific conferences, establishing religious centers, and promoting exchanges of students and teachers. It also focuses on developing joint projects for enriching Turkic-Islamic culture and determining initial dates of significant national and religious days, including Ramadan and Eid al-Adha.

The Council, based on international human rights documents, collaborates to promote and protect human rights, including the rights of women and children. It aims to hold religious and educational events aligned with Turkic-Islamic values and to prevent external interference in the religious environment of Turkic states. The Council is committed to translating religious literature, promoting it according to national traditions, and organizing related training seminars and events.

The contributions of OTS Secretary General, His Excellency Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, were acknowledged, and best wishes were extended for his future activities. The heads of delegations expressed gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the Government of Azerbaijan for organizing the meeting and their hospitality. The document was adopted and signed in Baku, Azerbaijan, on September 14, 2026, and was submitted to the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States for safekeeping.
