Baku Engineering University and Inha University Extend Dual Diploma Program

Baku: The Baku Engineering University (BEU) and Inha University of the Republic of Korea have signed a cooperation agreement to continue their dual diploma program. This agreement was formalized during a visit by BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev to South Korea.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Cho Myeong Woo, Rector of Inha University, highlighted the importance of educational cooperation in enhancing the developing relations between Azerbaijan and South Korea. He expressed confidence that students involved in the BEU-INHA Dual Diploma Program (DDP) will significantly contribute to advancing bilateral ties. The established partnership is seen as a robust foundation for ongoing collaboration in the project's second phase.

BEU Rector Yagub Piriyev emphasized the significance of the State Program for Enhancing the International Competitiveness of the Higher Education System of Azerbaijan, which has been successfully implemented for six years under President Ilham Aliyev's directive. He stressed the dual degree programs' importance within this framework.

Piriyev noted that continuing cooperation under the second phase of the BEU-INHA DDP would further strengthen the longstanding friendship between Azerbaijan and South Korea. He mentioned the recent online entrance exams for master's degree programs organized by the State Examination Center for final-year students in Korea and expressed gratitude to INHA University for its supportive conditions.

The agreement to continue the dual degree program was subsequently signed. In its second phase, the program will offer bachelor's level training in Information Technologies, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence Engineering), and Data Analytics (Data Science). Following a 3+1 model, 329 students are currently enrolled across both phases, with 143 having completed the program. An additional 114 students in their fourth year at INHA University are expected to graduate this summer.

The BEU-INHA DDP has been operational since 2020 as part of the State Program for Enhancing the International Competitiveness of Azerbaijan's Higher Education System for 2019-2023. By order of President Ilham Aliyev dated July 22, 2025, the program's implementation period has been extended until 2030.
