BAKU — Today, Baku was the venue for an international conference discussing the “illegal French occupation of Mayotte Island in the Union of the Comoros,” organized by the Baku Initiative Group.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event featured a flashmob and strong expressions of support for the territorial integrity of the Union of the Comoros. The conference concluded with the adoption of a Final Statement and the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Maore Committee and the Baku Initiative Group, aiming to advocate for Mayotte’s return to Comoros sovereignty.
The conference attracted a broad array of attendees including public and political figures, academic representatives, human rights defenders, NGO leaders, and members of political parties from both the Union of Comoros and Mayotte Island, as well as diplomats accredited in Azerbaijan. Participants focused on the reintegration of Mayotte into the Union of the Comoros and expressed their commitment to this cause through various discussions and collaborative agreements.
