Baku: The 2nd meeting of the Heads of Mapping Institutions of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was convened in Baku. The event was attended by prominent figures including Azerbaijani First Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Rashad Ismayilov, OTS Deputy Secretary General Merey Mukazhan, and other key officials from the region.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, representatives from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, as well as observer states Hungary and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, participated in the meeting. The attendees were from institutions specializing in geodesy, cartography, land management, cadastre, remote sensing, and geographic information systems.

The meeting aimed to review the progress made since the first gathering of the Heads of Mapping Institutions, which took place in Ankara in late 2024. It also focused on exploring opportunities to enhance cooperation and set new objectives within the realm of mapping and geographic information systems.

Azerbaijan’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable management was highlighted at the event. This initiative is associated with the upcoming World Environment Day and the 13th World Urban Forum, which is scheduled for 2026 in Baku.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of the declaration of the 2nd Meeting of the Heads of Mapping Institutions of the OTS.
