Baku: A meeting of the Heads of Government/Vice President of the Member States of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Baku on April 2. Addressing the meeting, Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, reflected on the significance of last September's gathering in Bishkek for reinforcing the institutional framework of multilateral cooperation among the member states.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Prime Minister Ali Asadov pointed out the significant opportunities available for the development of political, economic, transport, transit, energy security, digital transformation, humanitarian, and other areas of cooperation among the Turkic states. He mentioned that Azerbaijan's trade with OTS member countries increased by more than 5 percent last year, with investments reaching $21 billion. He emphasized the geostrategic advantage of the Turkic world and the importance of developing transport connections and expanding transit opportunities.

Cevdet Yilmaz, Vice President of Trkiye, highlighted the expected launch of financing activities by the Turkic Investment Fund (TIF), marking it as the first financial institution of the Turkic nations. He stressed the importance of securing a reputable position for the Fund at the international level.

Olzhas Bektenov, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, discussed the importance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, known as the Middle Corridor. Kazakhstan intends to sign an intergovernmental agreement with Azerbaijan to enhance its institutional status. Bektenov also mentioned hosting an Informal OTS Summit on artificial intelligence and digital development to drive digital transformation and technological cooperation.

Adylbek Kasymaliev, Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, praised Baku as a platform for discussing crucial issues and expressed confidence in Azerbaijan's Chairmanship of OTS to accelerate cooperation and implement agreements consistently.

Abdulla Aripov, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, proposed establishing a Permanent Council on Economic Partnership within OTS, chaired by deputy prime ministers, to enhance economic integration. He also emphasized the need for an Industrial Alliance of Turkic States to create full-scale production value chains.
