Baku Hosts Opening Ceremony of EuroVolley 2026 Women

Baku: The opening ceremony of the 2026 European Women's Volleyball Championship, co-hosted by Baku, was held in the Azerbaijani capital. The event took place at the National Gymnastics Arena, where entertaining shows were organized for the spectators.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the opening ceremony featured the entrance of the teams from Azerbaijan and Portugal, followed by the presentation of their national flags and the playing of their anthems. This event marks the beginning of the championship, which will run from August 21 to September 6. The tournament is co-hosted by Azerbaijan, Trkiye, Sweden, and the Czech Republic.

Azerbaijan will specifically host Group C matches from August 21 to 28. This group includes six teams: Azerbaijan, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, and Romania. The championship is set to bring together some of the best volleyball teams in Europe, with each host nation playing a critical role in the event's organization.
