Baku: Organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) in partnership with the Global South Youth Platform (GSYP), a broad-based videoconference was held on August 12 to mark International Youth Day. The virtual meeting aimed to coordinate the international activities of young leaders from the Global South and discuss joint international projects.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting gathered members and leaders of various youth organizations, as well as advisors to the UN Development Programme, from 20 countries. Participants shared information on the areas of activity and priorities of their organizations and exchanged views on issues of mutual interest.
The conference focused on establishing and developing cooperation between BIG and GSYP, discussing prospects for future collaboration, and implementing joint initiatives. Emphasis was placed on expanding cooperation and establishing sustainable relations in areas of mutual interest.
The meeting also explored opportunities for implementing joint initiatives and organizing activities at major global events in the future. Initial discussions took place on potential formats for cooperation, centering on promoting young people's active participation in international processes, strengthening ties among youth from different regions, and engaging them in dialogue on issues of global importance.
The Global South Youth Platform (GSYP) was established on May 1, 2026, with the organizational backing and support of the Baku Initiative Group (BIG).
