BAKU: The Baku Initiative Group has voiced strong objections against recent resolutions passed by the House of Representatives of the Dutch Parliament, which they claim are biased and distort the truth about Azerbaijan and the Netherlands' colonial history. The resolutions, supported by the Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, were adopted on October 10. According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Dutch Parliament's actions are reflective of the Netherlands' broader, ongoing colonial practices in its overseas territories, including Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Aruba, Curaçao, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. The Group accuses the Dutch government of assimilating indigenous populations, replacing local communities with Dutch citizens, and engaging in a range of human rights abuses such as the suppression of native languages and cultures, and unjust incarcerations. The Group's statement highlighted the need for the Dutch government to cease these alleged violations and called for the establishment of an investigative com mission to hold those responsible for these actions accountable. They also appealed to the European Union to support the formation of a body under the UN Human Rights Council to monitor and address these issues. Furthermore, the Baku Initiative Group urged international support for initiatives that combat colonial crimes, emphasizing the importance of global backing for their efforts to expose and end these practices.
