Baku: The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) has achieved significant milestones in its efforts to address issues concerning people of African descent. Abbas Abbasov, Executive Director of BIG, highlighted these accomplishments at an international conference in Baku titled 'Racism and Violence Against Sikhs and Other Minorities in India: The Reality on the Ground.'

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, BIG has published over 30 reports and four books and has submitted several alternative reports to UN bodies. Among these efforts is a comprehensive report submitted to the United Nations, which outlines key calls related to the implementation of the International Decade for People of African Descent. The report also provides recommendations on protecting the rights of these groups, promoting their recognition, and advancing their development.

This report has been specifically highlighted in the UN Secretary-General's report on the Programme of Activities for the implementation of the International Decade for People of African Descent for 2025.
