Baku Security Forum Presented at UN as Platform for Global Counter-Terrorism Cooperation

Baku: The Fourth High-Level Conference of Heads of Counter-Terrorism Agencies of UN Member States took place at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on June 29-30. This event was part of the Fourth UN Counter-Terrorism Week, as reported by the Press Service of the State Security Service to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan's representation at the conference was comprised of officials from the State Security Service and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The conference focused on reviewing the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and related issues. On June 29, a reception and presentation titled "Strengthening International Cooperation Against Terrorism: Perspectives of the Baku Security Forum" was held.

Senior officials from international organizations and counter-terrorism agencies attended the prestigious event. Speeches were delivered by Alexander Zuev, Under-Secretary-General of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, and Tofig Musayev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN. Hasan Mansurov, Deputy Chief of the State Security Service, presented on the Baku Security Forum and its operational platform, the Counter-Terrorism Information Exchange System, detailing its current status and future plans.

The presentation highlighted a statement by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, emphasizing Baku's emerging role as a venue for global security discussions. Mansurov noted that the Baku Security Forum aligns with the UN's international security principles and has rapidly become a key platform for uniting security services around shared objectives. A permanent Secretariat of the Baku Security Forum has been established, encompassing over 150 security and intelligence agencies from more than 100 countries, with ongoing efforts toward its legal and institutional development.

The event also featured a video presentation on the Baku Security Forum's activities, followed by cultural performances of traditional Azerbaijani dances by students from the "My Way" Children's and Youth Development Center. The conference concluded with business meetings among participants.
