Baku State University and ECO Clean Energy Center Sign Memorandum for Green Energy Cooperation

Baku: The Baku State University (BSU) and the Clean Energy Center of the Economic Cooperation Organization (CECECO) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on advancing green energy initiatives. The agreement aims to foster cooperation in environmental protection, climate change mitigation, and the development of sustainable projects.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, BSU Rector Elchin Babayev highlighted Azerbaijan's commitment to green energy and the university's role in supporting this priority through research and development activities. He emphasized BSU's efforts in establishing an Eco-Energy Center utilizing solar and wind power, along with creating an 'Eco-Space' with an aquaponic system during COP29. These initiatives are powered by solar energy and align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Rector Babayev expressed optimism about the MoU, stating that collaboration with CECECO will enhance specialist training, joint research projects, and the organization of conferences and training programs. The cooperation is expected to facilitate the preparation of joint publications, furthering the field of clean energy.

Executive Director Aysel Yagubova of CECECO explained that the center acts as a platform for promoting sustainable energy initiatives. She detailed ongoing projects, emphasizing the significance of partnership with BSU in renewable and green energy, energy efficiency, and nuclear energy.
