Paris 2024 Olympic Medals of Azerbaijani Athletes to Be Replaced After Tarnishing

Paris: Work has begun on the return and replacement of medals won by Azerbaijani athletes at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games that later became tarnished.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has reached out to the medal manufacturer, the Chaumet jewelry house, which operates under the LVMH group, to address the issue.

The company has confirmed that the replacement process is underway, with orders placed in a queue. The replacement of the tarnished medals is being conducted in stages, and it is currently the turn for the Azerbaijani athletes' medals.

In the upcoming days, the National Olympic Committee plans to send the medals to France for replacement. The first batch will include medals from taekwondo athlete Gashim Magomedov and Greco-Roman wrestling medalist Hasrat Jafarov.

The production of the new medals is expected to take approximately 3-5 weeks.
