Baku: The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars (BTK) railway line has been officially commissioned following its modernization, as reported by APA's local bureau. The launching ceremony was marked by the pressing of the launch button by key officials including Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, Azerbaijan's Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev, and Trkiye's Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, an official ceremony took place at the Akhalkalaki station in Georgia to celebrate the commissioning of the BTK railway line. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Georgian Prime Minister, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, and other officials. Azerbaijan was represented by Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev and Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways Rovshan Rustamov.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line initially began operations in a test mode for freight transportation on October 30, 2017. The modernization aims to enhance the operational efficiency of this critical transportation link between the participating countries.
