Baku: Work on drafting a detailed design project for the creation of a tram network in Baku is planned for this year, Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rahman Hummatov said while speaking at a roundtable dedicated to the implementation of the 2025 measures under the 'State Program on Improving Transport Infrastructure in Baku and Surrounding Areas for 2025-2030,' APA-Economics reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Hummatov stated that the plan involves moving to the design stage after finalizing the conceptual plan. A professional design company will be tasked with preparing the project for the entire network, which includes five lines and three depots.
The process will proceed based on an overall plan, with potential involvement from leading infrastructure companies worldwide. The selection will be made through a transparent tender once a fully detailed project is ready. Hummatov highlighted that the entity implementing the project might bring its own financing and expertise. The objective is to complete the detailed design project within the year.
