Baku to Host Climate Week from September 7-11, Minister Announces

Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Rashad Ismayilov, has announced that Baku will host Climate Week from September 7-11. Speaking at a session titled 'Strategic Environmental Assessment Tool for Achieving Climate Targets in Urban Planning' during the World Urban Forum 13 (WUF13), Ismayilov highlighted the significance of strategic environmental assessments as both an environmental protection instrument and a policy tool for sustainable urban development.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ismayilov also revealed that Azerbaijan will host World Environment Day on June 5. This announcement underscores Azerbaijan's commitment to global environmental initiatives and sustainable urban planning. The minister recounted the successful hosting of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) by Azerbaijan in 2024, marking another milestone in the nation's environmental diplomacy efforts.
