Baku: Baku's urban development plan until 2040 will respond to new realities and climate change, Riyad Gasimov, head of the Main Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of Baku under the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, said during an event dedicated to Baku's Master Plan held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Gasimov emphasized that under the leadership of the President, urban planning and architecture are among the most important tasks for Azerbaijan. He highlighted that with 60% of the world's population projected to live in cities by 2050, as stated by the UN, modern urban planning must be detailed, people-oriented, and precise. A long-term Master Plan for Baku has already been formed, with a focus on improving the quality of life. The plan places significant importance on the city's safety and accessibility for residents.

Gasimov further noted that the Master Plan prioritizes reducing environmental impacts. Efforts are underway to achieve global climate goals, with detailed discussions being conducted within the UN system to ensure the plan aligns with international standards and objectives.
