Shymkent: Plans are underway to establish joint tourism routes and packages between Baku, Azerbaijan's capital, and Shymkent, a city in Kazakhstan. Beksultan Adilkhanov, Head of Shymkent's Department of Tourism, Foreign Relations, and Creative Industries, revealed this development to journalists, as reported by APA-Economics' correspondent in Shymkent.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the launch of the Baku-Shymkent-Baku flight aligns with these tourism goals. Adilkhanov emphasized that this new flight connection will strengthen ties between the two cities and their countries. He mentioned that tourism operators and agencies have convened to discuss these new initiatives. Relevant memorandums and agreements have already been signed to facilitate the development of joint tourism routes.
Adilkhanov pointed out that the direct air link will enhance tourism ties, as tourists often prefer destinations with direct flights. He expressed optimism about a significant increase in tourist flow to both Baku and Shymkent and indicated active efforts to promote this. He also highlighted Shymkent's strategic position as a center in the southern region, alongside Turkistan and Tashkent, with a population of about 5 million people in its vicinity.
