Abraham Hamade Expresses Desire for Azerbaijan’s Parliamentary Speaker to Visit US Congress

Baku: Abraham Hamade, a member of the US House of Representatives, expressed his wish to see Sahiba Gafarova, the Speaker of Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis, in the US Congress during their meeting. The meeting took place while Hamade was visiting Azerbaijan, as reported by the Press and Public Relations Department of the Milli Majlis to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussion highlighted the role of the United States and former President Donald Trump in fostering peace and stability in the region. The Washington Summit and its outcomes were praised, along with the initialing of a peace agreement and the signing of a trilateral Joint Declaration aimed at restoring regional stability. The TRIPP corridor's potential to enhance regional transport connectivity and cooperation was also a key focus.

Sahiba Gafarova emphasized the historic significance of President Ilham Aliyev's visits to Washington and his meetings with Donald Trump, noting the positive impact on bilateral relations. She underscored the Charter on Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and the US, signed during Vice President J.D. Vance's visit to Azerbaijan.

The meeting also addressed efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and remove outdated obstacles, with Gafarova acknowledging Hamade's role as a co-sponsor of a bill to repeal Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act. She also mentioned her ongoing dialogue with the Speaker of the Armenian Parliament, reflecting on the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Both parties discussed enhancing cooperation between the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan and the US Congress, demonstrating a mutual commitment to developing relations further.
