Belgrade: The first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Serbia was held in Belgrade with the participation of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Serbia Aleksandar Vucic.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event marked a significant turning point in the bilateral relations between the two countries. President Vucic opened the session, emphasizing the special symbolism of the meeting coinciding with Serbia's Statehood Day. He highlighted the joint political will to elevate the relationship between Serbia and Azerbaijan to a strategic level, noting that Serbia holds such meetings with only a few countries.

President Aliyev, in his address, expressed gratitude for the invitation and highlighted the sincerity and strong ties between the two nations. He acknowledged the achievements of Serbia under President Vucic's leadership and reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in various sectors.

During the meeting, the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commissions and other relevant ministers presented their reports. The discussions focused on cooperation in energy, investments, renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, and culture. Both leaders issued instructions to expand collaboration in these areas and to develop specific projects.

It was also announced that direct flights between Baku and Belgrade are set to commence in May, aiming to enhance humanitarian contacts and boost tourism. The meeting concluded with Presidents Aliyev and Vucic signing the Decision of the first meeting of the Strategic Partnership Council, symbolizing a new era of strengthened ties between Azerbaijan and Serbia.
