Baku: Admission is being carried out for the first time this year at the Faculty of Engineering jointly established by Baku Engineering University (BEU) and Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT).
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, BEU Vice-Rector, Professor Atraba Gul, emphasized the strategic partnership behind the establishment of this new faculty. The collaboration between BEU and BUCT marks a significant milestone in the growing relations between Azerbaijan and China, particularly in the fields of science, technology, and higher education. This joint initiative aims to address the global transformation processes such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and green technologies by training highly qualified engineers who meet international standards and possess innovative thinking and global competencies.
The establishment of this faculty aligns with Azerbaijan's development strategy, focusing on strengthening human capital, developing a knowledge economy, and expanding the innovation ecosystem. BEU is committed to these priorities by expanding its international academic partnerships and developing a modern model of engineering training that will contribute to the country's technological advancement.
The newly established Faculty of Engineering offers Azerbaijani students the opportunity to benefit from China's advanced engineering experience and modern teaching methodologies. Students will gain education in line with international standards, acquire practical knowledge in modern laboratories, and partake in academic and scientific exchange programs. This initiative aims to prepare students to become competitive engineers in the global labor market.
Distinguishing itself from other dual-degree programs, the BUCT-BEU Faculty of Engineering is an independent academic entity jointly established by the two universities. It operates under a 3+1 model, where students complete the majority of their education in Azerbaijan and their final year at BUCT in China. This structure provides students with valuable international academic and industrial experience, with high-performing students having the opportunity to study at BUCT on a scholarship basis.
The faculty's main goal is to become a leading center of engineering education in the region, focusing on training engineers with multidisciplinary knowledge who can drive innovation. Future plans include launching new engineering programs, increasing joint research projects, and expanding industrial partnerships. With BUCT's recognized scientific and research potential, this cooperation is expected to yield significant contributions to Azerbaijan's scientific and technological development.
