Bulldozer Triggers Mine Explosion in Khojavand, Injuring Two

Baku: Two individuals sustained injuries following an explosion in the Khojavand region after a bulldozer hit a mine. The incident occurred at 6:30 p.m. on August 12, 2026, and the injured parties were promptly hospitalized, as reported by TABIB in response to an inquiry from APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the explosion took place in the Gizilgaya village of the liberated Khojavand district. The press services of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Prosecutor General's Office, and the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA) confirmed the incident. A bulldozer, operated by Elchin Telman Abbasov, a resident of Gazakh district born in 1961, struck a mine in an uncleared area. As a result, Sanan Sohrab Farajov, born in 1989, suffered open wounds on his face and eyes, while Fuad Ilgar Ahmadov, born in 2003, experienced abdominal abrasions. Both are residents of Tovuz district.

After receiving necessary medical assistance, both individuals were discharged for outpatient treatment. The Khojavand District Prosecutor's Office is currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances and ensure preventive measures are reinforced.

ANAMA, alongside the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prosecutor General's Office, has reiterated the importance of adhering to safety protocols. Citizens are urged to heed mine danger signs, avoid touching suspicious objects, refrain from entering unfamiliar areas, and respect fencing activities designed to prevent such accidents.
