Baku: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, regional cooperation and Burkinabe abroad of Burkina Faso announced a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Baku Initiative Group (BIG) and the ministry's Institute for Advanced International Studies in Baku on July 11.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this cooperation marks a significant development in expanding BIG's activities into Africa. Previously, BIG has collaborated with political parties and movements in different countries, but this agreement signifies the first official partnership with a government institution. The document outlines plans for developing cooperation with research institutes, think tanks, and civil society organizations in African countries, strengthening scientific ties, and implementing joint initiatives between BIG and partners in the Global South.

The cooperation framework includes preparing analytical reports and policy papers on colonialism's impact in Africa, neocolonial governance, resource exploitation, economic dependence, and reparations. These reports are intended to be presented to the international community, with both parties agreeing to propose joint initiatives within international organizations.

Furthermore, the cooperation aims to facilitate regular dialogues, joint research projects, and annual international conferences focused on decolonization and neocolonialism. These initiatives are expected to enhance awareness of Africa's realities and the alleged crimes against humanity by colonial powers.

The Memorandum also anticipates the involvement of BIG experts in events across African countries and includes exchange and training programs for young researchers, along with other academic activities.
