Tehran:A conference involving high-ranking officials from the five Caspian littoral states is currently taking place in Iran.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the 7th Conference of the Tehran Convention has commenced in Tehran after a three-year pause. The meeting, which originally began at the expert level three days ago, is now being held at the level of deputy environment ministers from the participating countries.

Among the participants is Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, Vugar Karimov. A significant topic discussed at today's meeting was the concerning decline in the water level of the Caspian Sea, which has become a critical issue for all five Caspian littoral states.

Additional discussions at the expert meetings in recent days included monitoring the Caspian Sea, protecting Caspian seals at the regional level, and preserving the biodiversity of this water body. It was reported that once agreements are reached on details and technical matters today, the finalized documents will be presented as a statement.
