Chair of Commission Highlights Growing Cybersecurity Threats Amid Rapid Technological Advancements

Baku: The number, scale, and complexity of cyberattacks are increasing rapidly, according to Ramid Namazov, Chairman of the Temporary Commission of the Milli Majlis on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats. He highlighted these concerns during a public hearing focused on "Digital Development, Artificial Intelligence and the Protection of Children from Harmful Influences on Social Media Platforms."

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Namazov emphasized the importance of not only implementing new technologies but also boosting the country's economy, attracting investments, supporting local startups, and establishing a more efficient public administration system. Cybersecurity was a central theme of the meeting, with the First Vice-President noting that the rapid development of artificial intelligence is creating new opportunities and threats.

Namazov also recalled the President's statement from a February meeting regarding a highly organized and aggressive cyberattack that the country faced last year. The Milli Majlis Temporary Commission on Countering Foreign Interference and Hybrid Threats regularly informs the public about such hybrid threats, underscoring that cybersecurity is no longer just a technical issue but a matter of national security as digitalization and geopolitical changes continue to evolve.
