Charges Filed Against APFP Leader Ali Karimli

Baku: Charges have been filed against Ali Karimli, chairman of the Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (APFP), APA reports. Ali Karimli, who was detained by the State Security Service, has been charged under Article 278.1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, which pertains to actions aimed at seizing power by force or violently changing the constitutional order.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ali Karimli and Mammad Ibrahim, a member of the APFP Presidium, were questioned at the State Security Service as part of the ongoing investigation. This followed searches conducted at their homes before they were taken to the State Security Service for further interrogation.

The searches and questioning of Ali Karimli and Mammad Ibrahim are reportedly connected to a criminal case against Ramiz Mehdiyev, which is currently under investigation by the State Security Service. Ramiz Mehdiyev, the former head of the Presidential Administration, is facing charges under multiple articles of the Criminal Code, including Article 278.1 for acts aimed at seizing state power, Article 274 for treason against the state, and Article 193-1.3.2 for the legalization of property obtained through criminal means.
