Baku: The use of ChatGPT is increasing in Azerbaijan and the region, showing that people see artificial intelligence as a new opportunity to get ahead in competition, said Zack Kass, an adviser to OpenAI and former head of one of its departments, at an event held in Baku, APA-Economics reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Kass explained that there are currently three main trends observed in the field of artificial intelligence. The first important trend is the rapid reduction in costs, specifically ‘inference costs,’ when using artificial intelligence models. Kass highlighted that developing countries were able to advance swiftly due to the affordability of the Internet, and now the reduction in the costs of running AI models is having a similar effect. ChatGPT usage is expanding more rapidly in Africa, Central Asia, and India compared to other regions.

The second trend is the expansion of AI model capabilities in low-resource languages. Kass noted that GPT-5 performs quite well in Central Asian languages, including Azerbaijani, enabling the models to be more easily adopted on a global scale.

The third main trend involves significant investments being directed towards chips and data centers in the Middle East and Central Asia. Kass emphasized that these investments will provide a strong boost to the regional economy as a whole. While the first two trends mainly create opportunities for young people and users, the third trend is aimed at enhancing the economy overall.
