Baku: China has committed financial support amounting to $285,000 for mine clearance operations in Azerbaijan's recently liberated territories. This announcement was made by Lu Mei, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Azerbaijan, during her address at the annual press conference for 2025.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ambassador highlighted that the collaboration between China and Azerbaijan not only yields mutual benefits but also significantly contributes to the welfare of both nations. Under the Memorandum of Understanding on Humanitarian Mine Clearance, China extended financial aid of 2 million yuan, equivalent to $285,000, to the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA). This assistance aims to bolster mine clearance capabilities and restoration efforts in Azerbaijan, ensuring the safety of the local population.

Lu Mei further elaborated on China's involvement in humanitarian projects within Azerbaijan. In collaboration with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, China has supplied electronic equipment to orphanages in Baku's Khazar district and established China-Azerbaijan friendship digital classrooms. The ambassador also participated in the unveiling of China-funded distance education equipment in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, benefiting 216 schools with new technology.

The ambassador also acknowledged Azerbaijan's support for social initiatives in China, noting Azerbaijan's assistance in building a playground at the No. 2 Primary School in Malipo County, Yunnan Province. Such projects reflect the genuine camaraderie between the two nations, with a focus on fostering positive relations for future generations.

Lu Mei underlined the importance of humanitarian exchanges in reinforcing China-Azerbaijan friendship, noting the active development of cooperation in culture, education, and tourism over the past year.
