Tianjin: China will support Kyrgyzstan in the feasibility study of the Bedel automobile checkpoint on the countries’ mutual border.

According to Trend News Agency, this development was announced by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan.

The agreement for the feasibility study was signed in Tianjin by Kyrgyz Minister of Economy and Commerce Bakyt Sydykov during the SCO Summit. This followed talks between Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and Chinese President Xi Jinping. In addition to the feasibility study, the two countries signed documents on grant assistance and cooperation in standardization and technical regulation.

The Bedel checkpoint, which commenced operations in September 2024, was initially opened under a simplified procedure with temporary infrastructure. At the time, electricity was supplied, and a temporary 58-kilometer Barskoon-Uchturfan-Aksu road, along with bridges, was constructed to facilitate access to the checkpoint.

The comprehensive execution of the highway infrastructure, along with the establishment of customs and border facilities adhering to global benchmarks, is planned for collaborative realization by 2027.
